WHY GIVE TO THE CHURCH?

To advance God's kingdom using the blessings He has given to you.

The Bible has so much to say about how God wants us to worship him with our wealth.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others,

as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” (1 Peter 4:10)

St Paul's offers a number of ways to advance God's kingdom with some of the wealth He has blessed you with. CLICK HERE FOR A LIST OF WAYS TO GIVE

When spirituality is connected with generosity the end results are beautiful. Entire communities are blessed, the local church is well equipped, and the Christian giver glorifies God who delights in our willingness to give toward the needs of others and to depend deeply upon Him. (2 Corinthians 9:7; Malachi 3:10)

Jesus is the most generous person to have ever lived. He gave his life so that we might live. As ones who follow Christ, in joyful response for all He has given us, we give Him thanks and glory as we generously give of our time, talent, and finances.

Why Give to the Church?

To advance God's kingdom using the blessings He has given to you.

The Bible has so much to say about how God wants us to worship him with our wealth.

We can sum it all up in six simple principles drawn from four passages.

1. A believer’s thank offerings will REFLECT the greatness of GOD’S GRACE that saves them:

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times,

having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.  2 Corinthians 9:8

2. A believer’s thank offerings will REFLECT THEIR TRUST that the Lord will take care of them:

So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'

For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33

3. Growing out of a believer’s reflection on God’s grace to them,

their thank offerings will be a CHEERFUL RESPONSE to God’s grace to them:

Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion,

for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7.

4. Growing out of a believer’s reflection on God’s grace to them, their thank offerings will come from the

FIRST FRUITS of their income (before using it for anything else):

Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops;

then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. Proverbs 3:9-10

5. Growing out of a believer’s reflection on God’s UNLIMITED grace to them,

their thank offerings will be a GENEROUS RESPONSE to God’s grace to them:

And God is able to make all grace abound to you. . . .You will be made rich in every way so that you can be

generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. 2 Corinthians 9:8, 11.

6. Growing out of a believer’s reflection on God’s UNLIMITED grace to them,

their thank offerings will be a PLANNED and PROPORTIONATE (%) amount of their income:

Now about the collection for God’s people: Do what I told the Galatian churches to do. On the first day of

every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income. 1 Corinthians 16:1-2.
