Bible Study
“Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 3:18
Starting Point
Mondays at 6:30 pm
Fellowship Hall
We all have questions. What does the bible say about heaven and hell? Why does this church baptize babies? Where did the bible come from? Starting point is a class that is offered by St. Paul's to provide these answers using God's Word. If you've never been to a bible study or are just looking for a review of the biblical teachings, please consider taking this class. This is also a great way to understand what your children are being taught in religion classes at St. Paul's. While this class acts as a path to church membership, there is no obligation to join our church. We simply want to teach God's Word so that you can grow in faith and in a greater understanding of the bible.
Our next session of Starting Point will begin on Monday, September 9th at 6:30pm. Each class runs for one hour every week for 15 weeks. Childcare will be provided upon request. Please contact Pastor Olson for any questions (dolson@stpaulsonalaska.org).
Taboo: Topics that Christians Should Be Talking About
Sundays at 9:15 am
Fellowship Hall
Our Sunday morning Bible study will be using Pastor Mike Novotny’s book Taboo to guide our discussion on a wide variety of difficult and challenging topics that Christians should be talking about but often don’t. Some of the topics will include pornography, politics, race, anxiety, transgenderism and more. We’ll be looking at what Scripture says about these things, and how we can be witnesses as we point people to the Savior who has overcome all sin for us. Having a copy of the book is definitely not necessary to participate in this class.
Sunday Small Group Bible Study
Sundays at 9:15 am
Music Room 215
Keith Beyer will be leading a second Sunday morning Bible study option on 1 Timothy beginning September 29 at 9:15 am. The study will meet in the Music Room (215). This class will be a great one for those who prefer studying a book of the Bible or simply prefer a smaller Sunday morning group. The study will meet until Christmas.
Starting Point 2.0: An Old Testament Overview NEW CLASS!
Wednesdays at 6:30 pm
Fellowship Hall
The Bible can be an intimidating book, and there have been many people who have expressed a desire to learn more of the basics when it comes to Bible history and who specific people/events are. To help, we’ll be offering a new class on Wednesday nights in the Fall: Starting Point 2.0. Our regular Starting Point covers the main teachings of the Bible…this class will cover the main history of the Bible (specifically the Old Testament) – starting at creation and working through some of the major events and people. We hope that this class will help lay a deeper foundation for people who are newer to the Bible but also lifelong Christians who would like a review of Bible history. The class will begin on September 18 at 6:30 pm and will go for about 10 weeks. Pastors Olson and Krause will tag-team this first round. Atmosphere is relaxed. Childcare will be provided as well. If interested and/or if you need childcare, reach out to Pastor Olson: dolson@stpaulsonalaska.org.

Our Wednesday 9 am group will be studying and discussing the sermon lesson from the previous weekend. We’ll be able to dive into the sermon lesson a little more deeply than we can do on Sunday mornings and gain some additional insights into God’s Word.
