How It Works

Step 1

Sign Up for a Discovery Workshop

Uncover your SHAPE:

  • Spiritual Gifts

  • Heart

  • Abilities

  • Personality

  • Experiences

Reserve your session today.
Space is limited.

Step 2

Attend a Discovery Guide Session

Following the workshop, we evaluate your results and then meet to discuss the ways to grow in your spiritual maturity based on your spiritual gifts and interests. This will include service opportunities at St. Paul’s and beyond.

You will schedule your session at the Workshop

Step 3

Follow your Faith in Action Plan

These are action steps you can follow to grow in spiritual maturity that you can do with and without steps 1 and 2. Many of our members are already doing many of these steps, so some may be able to mentor fellow members who are just learning.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find the answers to questions you might have about Member Ministry at St. Paul's.

  • We’ve experienced a lot of growth in the last 7 years or so. A lot of blessings come with that, but so do some challenges. Our goal is to provide opportunities for our members - new and existing - to get involved. This will reinvigorate existing members and set clear expectations for new members.

  • Though it is not required to go through the Discovery Process, all members will benefit from exploring their unique SHAPE (Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality and Experiences). This may be to further understand your own uniqueness, but also to see how God has placed you at St. Paul’s to complete the picture that each of our unique puzzle pieces create. As St. Paul’s continues to grow, we will see new opportunities to mentor others in their spiritual maturity.

    1. The Discovery Process begins with the Discovery Workshop. Throughout the workshop, you’ll learn the Biblical Foundations that help you discover the purpose behind growing in spiritual maturity and how each part of your SHAPE (Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality and Experiences) comes from God in order to further grow his eternal kingdom. The Discovery Workshop Leaders walk you through exercises that reveal your Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality and Experiences and then introduce you to how what you are Doing is part of your purpose. At the end of the Workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to sign up for a Guide Session.

    2. At the Discovery Guide Session, a trained Discovery Guide will help you explore your unique SHAPE (Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality and Experiences). The Guide will provide insight to opportunities for you to use that uniqueness to grow in your spiritual maturity by creating or working on your unique Faith in Action Plan. These Action Steps include service. The Guide will help you explore service opportunities at St. Paul’s and beyond.

  • We have scheduled a limited number of workshops so we can learn more about our member’s scheduling needs. We will offer one per month until we reach all of the members interested. But how we schedule them will vary by your needs. Reach out to our Member Ministry Coordinator with timing suggestions if none of the ones scheduled works for you. • The St. Paul's Member Ministry Team has written "job descriptions", called Ministry Position Descriptions (or MPDs) for each ministry opportunity. These descriptions lay out the expectations of your time and abilities, as well as other details that will guide you. Additionally, the Ministry Coordinators receive training on how to clearly identify needs and lead & encourage your spiritual growth as you serve.

  • Even though the goal of our Discovery Workshop is to uncover your gifts and talents and carefully match you with a ministry, we understand there may be situations where you need to move on. We are happy to match you with a new ministry or to get your feedback on how we can serve you better!
